Problems with WRT54GC v.2

I just bought the Wrt54gc v2 (the one with external antenna) and i'm having some problems with it. The router is wire connected to the main desktop, and wireless to my laptop. The problem is that every couple of hours the internet connection on my laptop becomes really really slow (takes about 5 min. to open google.com), while the signal remains excellent. The internet connection on my desktop also slows down a little bit, but not that much. Restarting the laptop or desktop doesn't solve the problem. What does solve the problem is connecting to the router setup and adjusting a setting and saving it. I'm thinking the router reboots at this point. After this everything works fine again for a couple of hours. After that, the same problem repeats itself.

I tried adjusting a few setting like the MTU value, Fragmentation Threshold, RTS Threshold, Beacon Interval, different wireless channels and i switched to b only mode. Also i upgraded the firmware to 1.01.0.

None of these things seem to make a difference. Also googling didn't provide me with any answers, i'm hoping you guys would be able to.
