here is a link
2.4.30 kernel -> working
speed problem -> solved
wpa/wpa2 support -> ready
client bridge mode -> partially working (more tests needed)
dhcp forwarding option -> implemented
new web gui -> almost ready
8O Looking Good 8O
The new GUI looks really nice except the color yellow.
How about implementing a color-changing option using DHTML & CSS?
its dhtml/css based.
here a screenshot of the same gui with different css
and another one
I agree with cyberian on the color. Overall, it looks somewhat similar to DLink's interface.
look above. never answer before looking
I stand corrected. I like the first layout in the previous post.
good to hear. when will this be implemented. or when will we see the first v23
in the final version you can choose the layout by your own
when its done. the webgui isnt finished at all and i still need to do some wds things
ok but thanks for the update. and all the hard work. and good luck. hows the job front.
you are using .css for the web interface right?
the job front. good question. i have contact to 2 companies, but i'm still waiting for the final answer
Please consider separating your packages by language.
Thanks for all your hard work!
Yes -- you know, English, Chinese, etc.
but why separating? dd-wrt supports all languages in one binary
Oh, never mind then. I just thought it took lots of space.
no i found a good low space solution
pity the size of your images didn't feature a low space saver
wonder how hard would it be to put openvpn on v23 ourselves...hmmmmm 8O
just try it with v22
great news & Great job
wds is now working too in v23. so all core components are now working without any problems. now i can go back to work on the webinterface
cool good to hear
Is there any plan to make it really easy to upload add and remove styles? It would be nice if there was a screen for managing them where all you needed to do was upload a style.css or a zip package of styles or something.
thsi would be great. kinda like wrtbwlog.
Maybe I am missing something here but WHY is everyone so worried about the GUI/web interface??
Shouldent we be talking about performance/features/flexibility/stability issues??
brainslyer is working on and has fixed serval performance/features/flexibility /stability issues
because LOTS of us would pull out the last of our remaining hair if the only way to configure the thing was through telnet/cli...
...if Console mode (telnet / ssh) was the only way, there is no real reason to wait for DD-wrt, then OpenWRT would be able to do just the same....
the firmware has to look as good as it fuctions
i'm itching to get my hands on this! I hope the QOS is superior to Sveasoft... and L7 control suport too...
yeah me too.
Ditto..Hint hint
Ahh, it's after 11pm in Germany... he's probably sleeping.
hmm, i received mail from him waaaaayy after 11pm, some past 2 or 3 recently
i wonder if he got a job yet????
it would suck to be a unemployed coder
well then... where is the code! LOL
Other than OpenWRT all project just stuff new features into the standard crapy linksys interface.
Also the current interface does not render on small devices or print very well, this can all be fixed with some nice Syle sheets.
Also all users are different, having custom layouts might make the features that you use most often easier to access.
Other than that, I would be happy if the existing features WORKED 100% before going ad adding more.
Speaking of adding features, a new UI should make it easier to add UI items for all those new features people keep asking for.
okay i see. you know nothing.
in v23 you can choose your gui css style, its not comparable with the linksys design since its made new from scratch. i already posted screenshots of if, but maybe you're to lazy to open your eyes.
i'm working 6 - 10 hours every day/night on it and dont like such critism currently.
but okay. its buggy and not ready, but here is it.
you can select the style in the current not finished management interface
I personally will wait until you have a beta ready. I have no problem waiting for a product which you feel is worth sending out to the masses. I am sorry you’re getting so much grief Brainslayer but you know how impatient and misunderstanding people can be...
its just not really helpfull if someone is talking about what he never have seen and if he also ignores various screenshots i posted.
wow this worked on my wrt54gSv2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DD-WRT v23 Sneak preview
Very Impressive… Good job 8)
P.s. I Take my Hat off to you BrainSlayer, this looks really cool
brainslyer there is no upgrade button for the firmware upgrade in v23.
EDIT: found the button. it is missing in one of the .css themes
i have try that firmware but dns is not working good
if i ping from dos i will not get a reply
whene i ping from telnet i will get ping reply
ip's works i can get website's but not wiht domein names.
i swiched back to v22 and everythings work fine
apart from some boot-loop-problems the version looks pretty good.
very very fast and well organised gui!
a few bugs...
I was testing the v23 generic, its great but I found a few bugs...
PPPoE password isnt saved
you can type the password, press submit, click to continue and youll see that the password field is empty.. so i couldnt connect to internet
Mac Filter cant be enabled
When i click on enable it reloads the same page but its disabled. You cant enable this.
In the "global" status page theres a typo next to the client rssid, just some html garbage like this: "/>
Tested with IE 6 and Firefox 1.0.5
btw, can you add the .bin to a zip in the next releases ? So i can test the zip and verify that it has been dled ok
Chaps..... Remember it’s a Sneak preview.
its not a preview. it was only a reaction to a bothering post. a real beta will possibly follow in some weeks. maybe earlier. maybe with some other short reactions in the time space between.
every bug in your list is known and i know much more too.
well, we're ready for that beta - whenever you are!. Sounds like you've got a handle on just about every possible problem!
Keep up the great work.
i'll release a beta in this case i dont find critical things anymore
Of course! your fans are not patient (ha ha) but we have no choice but to wait! Thanks!
You horrible man.....why do you tease us so with what we desire !
Looks gr8 Brain :dude:
to give someone a reason do support my work with donations
Not enough people in here thank you often enough for your hard work. DD-WRT is better than all of the other firmwares out there, and it is obvious to everyone that you are busting your ass to make it even better. Don't get too disturbed by the haters out there, most of us just sit back and wait for your newest version, grab it, and love it. THANK YOU!!
btw the Paypal-Button does not work ;-)
if this works better than Alchemy for what I want/need it to do - you damn straight WILL get my donation, as pitiful and small as it will likely be...
(sorry, but I too share your current employment status...)
Mr Slayer - I must congratulate you on fixing the bug that has dogged ALL the open releases except HyperWRT - the performance one. I''ve run tests using NetIQ Chariot, and this DD-WRT V23 manages 24-25M throughput with 128 bit WEP ($VEA$OFT, and previous DD-WRT has always been about half this)
Small donation done
BrainSlayer, small donation done (5€). Keep up the good work; I am happily running DD-WRT 2.2 (June 30th) ... only thing I am hoping for is improved wireless performance (as it is with Linksys 4.50.6/4.70.6 releases on WRT54GS).
Hopefully more people to support you a bit, at least from motivational side ;-)
thank you, thank you. maybe also the final v22 code will contain these fixes if i find a good replacement for ebtables in the next days
who cares al long as it works good. you just set it up and leave it.
tou don't have to look at it everyday.
It works fine, though the image is broken.
Re: Small donation done
YES, i aggree with you ... and to all others .... donate Brainslayer (regarding the job he has lost) ! He is a nice guy, making the bist firm ever for the WRT, also he is quicker than some other parties to fix the bugs .... that must be honored !
BrainSlayer, about when can we expect the V23 without major bugs?
Re: Small donation done
How about some time after V22 is out? I think its a little early to be nagging him about v23 being complete don't you?
I sent him a 10 Euro donation today.. Had a little fun getting the paypal screen to display english.. It was defaulted to something else to begin with.
Re: Small donation done
I just got his e-mail from that screen and sent a small donation through the main English site.
Re: Small donation done
V22 has been out for almost 3 weeks now.
v22 final isnt out yet
and all your fans are waiting patiently... i promise...!
brainslyer could you please put a ewrt like captive portal in dd-wrt please.
with chillispot i would need a extra server one that i dont have.
@Brainslayer: outstanding work...keep on coding !!!
Herzliche Grüße nach Germanien
Will v22 feature the linksys 4.x.x.x. firmware code?
v23 is the only firmware right now that won't drop my wireless connection & reset the router when transferring large files other than the official linksys code, and i'd like to stay with dd-wrt compared to bleh features linksys
no, v23 is the first firmware with the firmware v4 wireless and ethernet driver base. the rest has nothing to do with the linksys firmware. the kernel is totally different. maybe i can add the new ethernet drivers and the cfe fixes to the v22 code
so about when can we see the final release of v22
good work keep coding
can't wait...i want v23...ipkg support..etc
v22 supports ipkg too.
but now you can try the VOIP version of v23 (its the biggest one)
this version fully integrates sipath, hopefully its running. its the result of a 28 hour development session without sleep. know its 15:31, i go to bed now
Great to know we have voip support. What is 15:31 in USA time.
about 3:30 pm. but in his time zone...
12:31 eastern time
but as you post this it's actually 10:31am Eastern....
sorry. yes. i'm GMT +1, you are GMT-5, so if its 15:31 here, its 11:31. so you was wrong too. but this forum only displays GMT times
i have tested v23 and this1 is not working in dhcp
if i use the dns from my router in windows 192.168.1.1 that i cannot see pages, if i put my provider dns in windows than its works great.
is this a bug??
BTW looking nice, and faster than ever
in ap mode? maybe you missconfigured the routing.
i have just flashed with that 1 on older versions v22 its working whene i use dhcp and clone my macid
now its not working anymore.
i have try everything but nothing works.
is on wired side of the router,
Now is time for a big donation!!
Erase the nvram it will work...
mtd erase nvram
That help my problem.
possibly yes. this firmware is partially tested in ap mode with my notebook in wep, wpa and wpa2 mode. no problems so far
sounds like a party for me . this firmware will be the base for the dd-wrt voip firmware. try it out and tell me if you find some bugs (only sipath related). i guess the phonebook is not fully ready yet
sorry for asking such a stupid question but i could not find a straight awnser on what exactly sipath is. i know it has to do somthing with voip
were is sipath in dd-wrt v23 i did not see it in the web interface.
OK I am testing it right now...
The VoIP is not listed in none of the Styles...
JFFS not working.
Status Page shows no info.
So far DHCP is working for me.
LAN and WLAN is much faster.
Still testing ill report back.
DynDNS is not woking ether it reports "No Internet" and it reports an "IP of 0.0.0.0"
on the admin page if you check Webserver "HTTPS & HTTP" it will not work once you hit apply it will reset and you wont have nether one thou http still works but no https.
