28h of development isn't something to be proud of. Please don't misconceive me but something you learn at the beginning of studying computer since / agile software development is to manage your time. In the "real world" there are no releases after 5 p.m. cause increasing of bugs due to overfatigue of the developers... well.. after about 8h of work!

    so take a break :)

maybee im missing something but the version of v23 i downloaded on 2005-07-15 is EXACTLY the same as the "new" VOIP version!
    wrong link?

    I think you are right...
And BrainSlayer is ZzZzzZ I bet he is tired...
No wonder there is so many bugs in these one must be a mistake in the link :)

yeah, oh well i think brainslyer deserve some sleep. :D

but this version does have alot of fixes from the old version.

brainslyer, take it easy, i think you should have went with toxic and jdepew on vacation. :D

Other than using softphones for VoIP, SIPatH is useless as WRT54G(S) has no RJ11 ports.

  7. jagboy

    jagboy Network Guru Member

then why is it being implemented in dd-wrt and why is there such a big hyp about it. it has to be usefull.

  8. XCOM7

    XCOM7 Network Guru Member

You must know nothing about SIP....
SIPatH is use with VoIP enable phones and soft phones.
So you dont need RJ11 Ports thats the point of it we are not making the WRT54G or GS an ATA just SIP enable.

  9. Cyberian75

    Cyberian75 Network Guru Member

    For softphone users, I think.

Isn't the stock firmware SIP-enabled? I thought it was...

  12. XCOM7

    XCOM7 Network Guru Member

    ROFL

[-X No is not.... Stock firmware has no SIP options at all and if does please point me to the right direction so I can configure the phone book options, soft PBX options, vmail options, SIP Proxy, etc....

    SIPatH?

I yust tried out. Improved wireless speed: Great work!
Some things: Provider password not stored (no login possible), SIPatH not to find, several things not working correctly (in my opinion), decreased possibilities in access restrictions, and a little bit funny: Best web design "Brainslayer" works only with Firefox correctly, old browser does not show apply buttons.
    Great sneak !

These is not the official VoIP "Sneak" Looks like BrainSlayer got the links mixed.

The SIP Phone stuff would be better suited for a small office than home use. Unless you have a receptionist in your house and like forwarding calls to your living room..

Might be useful if you share a house with a bunch of people as well.

Gives you the kinds of features that you find in an office phone system where you can call the different extentions and have a voice mail box for each user. But in this case it uses VOIP to connect to a third party provider.. Has NOTHING to do with most normal home VOICE over IP phones that require a special router and can hook to your homes normal phone jacks.

  16. Cyberian75

    Cyberian75 Network Guru Member

Ah, so it's an asterisk without the adapter. Thanks, Lazybones, for your explanation.

  17. bigjohns

    bigjohns Network Guru Member

to a degree. Asterisk is best with it's native IAX protocol. A SIP proxy built into the WAP54gs could be advantageous - but you'd really not want to have much working there. Hell, with just QOS running (alchemy 1) my router spends a lot of time with CPU at/near 1.0...

    same problem after nvram erase.
the router dont translate dns request
in dhcp mode, is there a fix for of somthing like that
Internet Setup: DHCP and Clone mac,
    LAN Setup: STATIC

on all other version this works witout problems, with the new v23 is not working

Cool now we got the correct one :)

OK I am testing it right now...
    Bugs:
    JFFS not working.
    Status Page shows no info.
DynDNS is not woking ether it reports "No Internet" and it reports an "IP of 0.0.0.0"
SFTP Protocol is not running ether.
on the admin page if you check Webserver "HTTPS & HTTP" it will not work once you hit apply it will reset and you wont have nether one thou http still works but no https.
After every reboot it stay in the reboot loop.. I have to turn it off and than on to get it working again.
SIPatH requires a password for configuration and to go the web interface... What is it? I try all defaults and still not letting me in?!?!?!

So far DHCP is working for me.
LAN and WLAN is much faster.

    Still testing ill report back.

  21. XCOM7

    XCOM7 Network Guru Member

Your problem must be an isolated problem as I can not replicate your problem I have ran all firmwares with no problems at all... check your DHCP services in windows.

  22. MBChris

    MBChris Network Guru Member

    Ok, im testing also:

    Statuspage displays info !
Webserver HTTP/HTTPS is faulty, you are right
Reboot-loop NO, after several reboots the WRT is allways up and running

Passwort for SiPath is Standard Admin Passwort, but you must use User:root !!!

Regarding JFFS, it seems that you dont wait long enough for initializing the JFFS, ive heared it could last 20 mins. (I dont need it) I think also therefore is the Power LED flashing because init is not completed.
Could also be that there isnt enough space for ?!?!?

jffs does not work for me either

Like i said on all other firmwares it works, but on v23 i cannot recieve site'sif i only use 192.168.1.1 as dns in windows.
if 1 put the dns of my provider in windows its works.

    Mr BrainSlayer -

    I bow to your intellect.

I require the following functions - please advise which version of your firmware will currently meet my requirements!

    1 - Rflow
2 - inbound / outbound bandwith track by QOS using MRTG or other SNMP tool.
3 - full logging to wall watcher
4 - ability to block services by L7 protocol
5 - ability to do QOS by both IP and L7 protocol.

Alchemy 1.0 is NOT efficient with QOS. If I have Outbound traffic, and I run a bandwidth test from my machine (the only PREMIUM QOS machine), I get very eratic results...

While the SIP tools will be useful to me in the future, I just need a more stable / reliable firmware. Of course, the fact that there are people here who seem to be willing to support newbies like me with the configuation, etc. speaks volumes to the quality of people you've attracted as fans and supporters.

    Regards,
    John

Thanks for the v23 VoIP Sneak Preview! I´m searching for a firmware which is sip-aware for about one year now.

SIPatH ist not easy to install for linux newbies like I am. But it is useful for all SIP clients (hardware phones like Sipura, SNOM, Grandstream or software clients).

The only sip-aware SOHO router I know till now are the intertex products.

I don´t know if you are interested in feedback. If so:

    - Umlaute (like ä, ö, ü) are not shown correctly
    - if you change the interface to Xirian for example and click on sipath -> status the interface is changed to Kromo

Whoah... I'm overwhelmed. Which one do I use? There are like 6 .bin files in there.

    I have a GS router - model CGN20...

well you could use dd-wrt.v22.prefinal5_wrt54gs or
    dd-wrt.v22.prefinal5_basic_wrt54gs

    for your WRT54GS

  34. bigjohns

    bigjohns Network Guru Member

and what would the differences be?

and just so I do this right -

    1 - load firmware
2 - hard reset (hold button in for 30 seconds)
    3 - configure the router

Is that correct? moving from Alchemy to DD-WRT?

you should put a blue backgroud color for this firmware upgrade. blue ;just like the color of the WRT54G !!!!

wow.....23 looks so cool, like the BrainSlayer theme :)

However it doesn't seem to want to respond to DNS requests.

    Hardware Version:2.0
Was latest 22(wicked firmare), reset to factory, upgrade, no changes to defaults in 23.

    PID Uid VmSize Stat Command
    1 root 656 S /sbin/init noinitrd
    2 root SW [keventd]
    3 root SWN [ksoftirqd_CPU0]
    4 root SW [kswapd]
    5 root SW [bdflush]
    6 root SW [kupdated]
    8 root SW [mtdblockd]
    65 root 356 S resetbutton
    92 root 300 S /usr/sbin/telnetd
    93 root 304 S tftpd -s /tmp -c -l
    97 root 648 S httpd -d /www
    110 root 332 S /sbin/wland
    172 root 292 S udhcpd /tmp/udhcpd.conf
    195 root 324 S dnsmasq --conf-file /tmp/dnsmasq.conf
    357 root 436 S process_monitor
    361 root 284 S /usr/sbin/cron
    405 root 276 S udhcpc -i vlan1 -p /var/run/udhcpc.pid -s /tmp/udhcpc
    516 root 456 S -sh
    517 root 344 R ps
    ~ #

If I telnet onto router and ping a url, it looks it up and pings it ok. On my PC I can ping external IPs but cannot perform DNS lookups.

they diff becuase the basic is maller due to teh fact of some feautres being taken out. like chillispot and i tink rflow etc..

for the firmware upgrade you should do a hard reset and then flash.
once the power led stops blinking after you are done flashing then a hard reset. and then config. have fun
    -jag

  38. bigjohns

    bigjohns Network Guru Member

    Well, I want RFLOW so...

A hard reset takes me to 'defaults' right? so will change my router's default internal IP address scheme back to 192.168.1.1, right?

    So:
    hard reset
    change IP on my pc
    enter alchemy config
    load dd-wrt firmware bin file
    hard reset
    configure

    That correct?

  39. unikum

    unikum Network Guru Member

I would always go back to original Linksys firmware or HyperWRT firmware first before falshing DD-WRT.

  40. bigjohns

    bigjohns Network Guru Member

what would the logic behind that be?

  41. jagboy

    jagboy Network Guru Member

yes hard reset takes you to facotry defults.
and yes the ip address goes backj to 192.168.1.1

well you dont have to change the ip addresson your pc. all you have to really do is:
    hard reset
    load dd-wrt firmware bin file
(give the routers a few minutes to start up, and wait for the power led to stop blinking on the wrt)hard reset
    configure
and you are on your way.

    Here my first buglist:

    - German (ä, ö, ü) are not correct
    - under sipath -> the Style is changed to Kromo
    - jffs not working

But it´s a GREAT Firmware !!! - Brainslayer, very very good job!

I believe I have to change my IP because my home network is not 192.168.1.xxx

Same problem with DNS as "devil-strike". Not working if PC has 192.168.1.1 as DNS. (using DHCP for Internet Connection, no PPPoE).

And the buttons (save, cancel) are missig on IE with Brainslayer Theme. FireFox works!

But the SIPatH part looks ok....

will my VOIP phone still work like it does under alchemy?

I just printed every screen from my router configuration so I can reset things...

  49. jagboy

    jagboy Network Guru Member

well to be honest if you are unsure dont do it. brainslyer said it himself that this is experimental, and it is buggy. so if your scare to death you might want to reconsider, and i dont know if your voip phone isgoing to work with this. i dont have much experience with sipath.

    @BrainSlayer

Only a small question, is it possible to implement a status view of the current connection time with pppoe. I never know, when Telekom (provider) is going to cut the connection (every 24 hours).

    Thanks!

  51. blaess

    blaess Network Guru Member

    @bigjohns
    dd-wrt.v23_voip alpha
And good luck with the upgrade..... At the moment the SIPatH implementation looks very good. It's easy, you have to change the Outbound-Proxy on your SIP-device to the WRT IP, that's it! After, you can verify the sucessfull registration on "phonebook" tab.

v22 will be released in the next days. i just need to finish the new website and i have also the check if everything went fine in the current v22 codetree. since i'm working mainly on v23, this isnt very easy

The project manager in me says -- would it not be better to focus for a day or so on v.22 and wrap that up before driving too far afield in v23?

Is it possible to have at least a very small jffs partition? I just need less than 2KB to put my IPv6 tunnel initialization script.

I think there will be a useable jffs partition, but now it's an experimental release only, later it will be optimalized and will remain more free space for jffs.

the project manager in me says that i have many time currently which should not be wasted. also if you have some days more for v22 you will get a smaller timespace for v23

u know what...Linksys should employ programmers like you. Imagine the quality of software they'll have. They did a smart move to put their source code in the GPL though...the way i see it....it is smart strategy to win the market

hey brainslyer if you still dont have a job you should apply to linksys :D :D

i dont think that it was a strategy, i think that just making the devices in linux just was cheaper, and they just made more money.

Just wondering... why are you concentrating on the VoIP edition without releasing a final version of Prefinal 5 V22?

FYI, DNSmasq is not yet working in V23, and the "BrainSlayer" theme is a little screwy for IE-based browsers.

BrainSlayer, have you already found the DHCP dns bug
if the pc using 192.168.1.1 as dns you cannot see webpages.

And there is also a reboot loop if you reboot the router of if you upgrade the firmwware. the router goes into a loop, only if you power off the router and plugit backin than its restarts good.
