I am putting together a community network and have a couple of questions before I proceed.

I am planning on using a WRT54GS with the Sveasoft firmware. Does the firmware have a Captive Portal? I see the current version has a hot spot built in. Is this it? Does it run like NoCatSplash? Or is it possible to install NoCatSplash inconjunction with Sveasoft?

This only needs to supply wireless to 7 homes in a cul-de-sac. What is a cheep repeater that I could use if the signal won't cover the hole area or the person what a stronger signal in there home? I was thinking of using the WAP54G and having them set it up with the same SSID.

    Thanks for the help,

PS. Thanks for the awsome site. One stop for all my Linksys questions and firmware news.

The current public/free version of Sveasoft is Satori and it does NOT include ANY kind of hotspot/captive portal. Alchemy (the currently beta/subscirber only version of Sveasoft) includes a "Hotspot portal" which I belive is based on ChilliSpot. If you want to know more about the captive portal possibilities with the Sveasoft firmware I recommend you register a free forum account at sveasoft.com and do some searching.

As for a cheap repeater I would also consider more WRT54G's! Using custom firmware they can do anything the WAP54G can plus more!
