Q on IP filter settings

Hi all, just bought my WRT54G v2.2 and installed the latest #22 prefinal 3.2. My main reason for buying and using this setup is the QOS options as I use 2 voip phones and hate having to shut down downloads or stop browsing when on the phone.

I'll get to the QOS questions when I've played with it a bit, but having read through this forum I was wondering if there's a consensus on the IP filter settings, as people seem to need to change those from the defaults. Currently they're set at

    max ports 4096
    TCP timeout 3600
    UDP timeout 3600

Appreciate any suggestions. My dsl line is only 512k down if that makes any difference.

    Cheers,

    J.

the max connection can be configured a little bit lower, this improves the speed generally. the linksys default setting is 512. it all relates what you're doing with it. with P2P you should set higher values. without p2p 512 is enough

Thanks, I have a server that I get some torrents on, so I'll half it and see what that does. Then experiment from there.

    Cheers,

    J.
