I've been looking around for some good documentation for QoS on the Linksys router, but I haven't found anything that really describes whether the way I've got it set up in a way that will work. Basically, I have two machines that frequently do large transfers, and I want to have the priority of those machines set lower. So I put the MAC address of those two machines in on the QoS page and set the priority to low. However, the default for everything else listed appeared to be set to low, including the application priorities, so I went to set some of those to high. When I did that, however, it complained that "setting multiple devices, ethernet port or application to high priority may negate the effect of QoS. Are you sure you want to proceed?" How would it negate the effect of QoS? Is it only recommended to have one thing set to high priority, and if so, why? Does everything not listed default to low, and if so, what is the point of listing them? I understand that multiple things set to high priority would share bandwidth equally, but what I really want is for everything to be at a "medium" priority and just two specific machines to be at a lower priority. Setting ssh, http, https, imaps, and a few other protocols to high priority would work, but it's not really what I want. Any suggestions?
