Is it possible that i can setup QOS so that my asterisk server has priority over all traffic, but of course only when the asterisk server is in use and doesnt slow down other traffic when the asterisk server is not being used. Does that make sense? =P

Yes, sorta. You can prioritize by MAC, IP, Protocol or combinations there of. VOIP protocol priority should be all you need.

the problem is that all other traffic lets labeled as low, so it only gets a small portion of my pipe. I think im screwing up on the classification percentages (basic settings page) or something. I dont know. I would think this setup would be quite average and there would be a nice tutorial (w/pics) on it. =P

Ther'z a bunch of info on setting up QOS if you scratch just below the surface. Why don't you post your traffic profile and desired priorities. Would make giving advice a lot easier. A system description of available bandwidth and user stats would also be a real BIG rush.

if you just set your QOS to give the MAC address of you server highest priority, and make that rule the first rule, that should do the trick for you.
