Am I out of luck since it uses port 443 (set as http traffic in QoS) AND has different possible IP results?

I cannot enter a dns name into the QoS rules...

Best you can do is set two rules for port 443, one for small (maybe 1-512K) transfers at higher priority and a second for large (512K+) transfers at lower priority. Once Tomato sees more than 512K go through the connection, it will drop the priority accordingly.
