hey i have searched and looked around all i find is that you have to upgrade the router step by step unless your at the official linksys firmware?!
    (otherwise u'll brick ur router..)

now to the question does Alchemy-V1.0 v3.37.6.8sv count as a official linksys firmware and can i flash DD-WRT pre5 straight over it?

2nd: does pre5 stop the router from hanging under load?
(the router just hangs random, but atleast once a few 3-4days aslongest uptime..)
    its a WRT54G v2.2...

    1) No problem flashing from Alchemy 1 to DD-WRT. Make sure you let DD-WRT finish complely - may take a couple minutes

    2) Define what load is to you - P2P, wilress wire transfers?? There are more configurable options - tcp connections, etc and the image uses less memory so you will have to try it to see if it solves your application induced reboot issue

The built in firmare loader has always worked for me. I use the tftp method in emergencies only
