Question about WEP and internet...

I made a post before about having trouble conntecing my WRT54G router to my WMP54G PCI wireless adapter card, but I was able to fix it by getting one of linksys's range boosters (awsome product).

But now I have a new problem. When I enable 128 hex(or what ever) WEP coding on my router, my PCI card can find the access point but cant connect to the internet. Now I have to plug my range booster into my router ever time I change it from WEP secured to non secured, but It seems that my comp (the one im using right now) can only connect to the internet when I have no security on my router.

I like that I can connect to the net, but I dont like the fact that everyone and their mother will be able to connect to my router if they are close enough. So my question is how can I keep my computer on the net and have security? Does WEP security have problems with PCI wireless cards? I have only tried the 128, I dont know if 64 (the one below 128 what ever it is) would do the same thing. Any help would be nice.

I am having this same problem, but using 64 hex.

Using router WRT54GR, with a NetGear Adapter.

    Someone please help us.

Are you saying your WMP54G cannot connect to the wireless network with WEP enabled?

    Have you tried using WPA?

In reality, your adapter doesn't connect directly to the Internet - the wireless router does and redistributes the connection using NAT, so if your wireless network connection fails you cannot connect through the router to the Internet.
