Question for WRT54GX users

I was wondering if anyone is experiencing the same problems as with the WRT54G(S) mentioned in this thread.

The easiest way to check is by downloading the file on this page (from the thread mentioned above) and trying to transfer it between a wireless client and another wireless or wired client (doesn't matter, as long as one is wireless).

Can somebody please be so kind as to check this? I'm going to exchange my WRT54GS for this issue and get a WRT54GX but only if it doesn't show the same behavior of course...

    Many thanks!

I have a WRT54GX and a laptop with the corresponding gx client card in it.

I could test this if you do not get an answer from someone else.

Is there anything special about your file? Can I just create my own file of the same size and copy it?

If I can just create my own file, what size should it be?

    Thanks for your reply Dennis.

The file that's posted on that website is not just a random file. It is however, the smallest file to date that shows the erroneous behavior
(which leads many users to believe it is bit-sequence related). Usually users experience this when downloading/transferring large files, but this one will also trigger the bug at a 100% certainty rate...

It is actually an MSI file of MS Office that has been zipped and is only 500-something kilobytes. I know MSI files are tricky (virii and all), but like the user said on the site: "trust me"... There is nothing wrong or bad about the file (I'm not the person that posted it there) and you don't need to open or execute it, just transfer it...

Do take note however, that you need to try to transfer the MSI file, not the ZIP file, so make sure to unpack the zip-file first, as the ZIP file transfers just fine on WRT54G(S) units...

If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask me. I'll PM you me e-mail address if you prefer direct contact...
