I have a linksys WRT54gs(v.4) with the 7dbi antenna upgrade... Anyways I installed the latest dd-wrt software (initially installing mini, then the "big" version) and that seemed to install just fine....
Anyways given my antenna upgrade I'm wondering which transmit power setting would be optimal...
My second issue is that my signal strength varies between good and next to nothing every 20-30 seconds.. I didn't have this issue with original linksys firmware... Any thoughts would be appreciated.. Thanks!

your optimal transmit power is the smaller one that allows you to contact all your computers in your house with a reliable signal.

If you have big variations in your signal strength, you may have other devices on the 2.4GHz band that interact (a wireless phone for example). Try to change the canal you use (between 1, 6 and 11).

The transmit power I use with my WRT54Gv.3 is 86.
