I have a WRT54G v5 and it has micro dd-wrt sp2 on it... works pretty well and iam satisfied compared to the netgear i had... i was curious as to if u need to change the tcp udp outputs or whatever they are... default there both 3600 or something like that... i hear alot of people changing them both to like 90... is it necessary and what does it do if u change them... thanks

Sounds like you are talking about timeouts. If you are using a program or programs that create alot of connections and you are ultimately having problems then yes you should lower the timeouts to the ports can be used again in the time you specify. However imo if your connection is running fine and you have no issues then there is not need to change it.

You will know if they would need to be changed if you are having problems, if you have no problems, you play games online, surf the internet and have no reportable issues then all is well.

That is a very loaded question and really depends on many factors. First you need to figure out if there is any latency being introduce within the data path. If you do find some then you have to isolate where it is, if it comes down to somewhere else there is nothing you can really do, but if it is within your network you then have control. However i will go back to my initial response, if you are not having any issues or problems i would not worry about it and leave well enough alone.

Easiest way is to ping a remote site, if your times are really really slow then you run a trace route of some kind to see where it might be getting induced. However you will know if your experiencing bad latency because your games will hang all the time and the internet will be unpredictable at best.
