QuickVPN to RVS4000 unable to access Gigabit resources

    I have successfully set up my RVS4000 for VPN access using the Linksys QuickVPN software. When I VPN into my network from outside, I am able to access all the resources connected to the router that are running on 100 MBit. Unfortunately, I cannot connect to my one Gigabit resource, which happens to be a NAS (my backup disk drive). Any thoughts as to why this is happening?

    Here's some more details:

    My network has two 100 MBit devices connected and one Gigabit device connected to the router. While inside my network, I can connect/ping all devices. The NAS works wonderfully on the Gigabit connection. As described above, when I am outside my network, I can VPN in, but can only access the 100 MBit devices. I cannot access the NAS over VPN. I even tried moving the NAS to different ports on the router, but no luck thinking it was a hardware issue.

    At first glance, I was thinking this is a hardware issue, but I am thinking it is more of a software issue as I test more combination's of plugging the NAS into different ports on the router.

    Firmware: 1.2.10
    QuickVPN: 1.2.11 running on Windows XP SP3 (no Windows Firewall)

    Please let me know if anyone else is having this issue, too.

    Does your NAS require a username/password combination for access or should it just open as a share?

    After some additional testing on my end, it looks like this is user error. I decided to upgrade the firmware on my NAS (thinking that would solve it) and in the process noticed that there was a typo in the IP Address's gateway on the NAS. I fixed the typo and immediately went next to door to my freind's place to use my QuickVPN over his broadband connection. And voilà. I could access the NAS over QuickVPN. I then proceeded with the NAS firmware upgrade, did some retesting, and everything continues to work.

    Lesson learned.... If you can ping/use the device on the local network, but not over QuickVPN, there is a likelihood that the return packets are not being sent to the correct gateway; therefore better check the IP Address's gateway setting.
