    hello, i have 2 questions:

    1) is it possible to let a second WRT54G work as a range expander?

    2) should I buy a second wrt to expand range or an wre
the wre has less power and devides the signal speed, wrt i don't know if it's possible

    Hi zaizuney,

You can't use the 2nd WRT54G to expand the range, you must use a wre54g or a wap54g in repeater mode. As you r concerned about the speed, I would suggest you to go for wap54g.

I just need to add my xbox to my wireless network, but the console is in another room, and i dont want to put a cable over the rooms to get connectec to my WRT54G, i can put a WAP54g near of the XBOX and connect the ethernet cable of my XBOX to the LAN port of the WAP54G and this works??

I am using 2 WRT54Gs in WDS with WPA...
The first is the Main internet connection.
The second is acting as a repeater.

The linksys firmware will not let you do this. I am using the 3rd party firmware Talisman 1.0.5.

However, I am about to switch to DD-WRT as my 3rd router is a v4 and unsupported by Talisman.

I haven't really 'tested' the speed factor... but I haven't noticed any slow down either. I do online computer gaming with my laptop wirelessly connected to the repeater wirelessly connect to the main router... with no issues.

    Good luck.
