I am using the scripts to access my modem locally:

    sleep 5
ip addr add dev vlan1 brd +
    /usr/sbin/iptables -I POSTROUTING -t nat -o vlan1 -d -j MASQUERADE
How can I access my modem management webpage remotely though the internet?

I'd guess you could port-forward like anything else, and forward something like 8080 to port 80 on the modem. It all depends on how they put the web interface together. If it *requires* port 80 (both internally and externally), VPN is your only option.

    internet or intranet

My setup is similiar to yours, to get remote access via the Internet would turn on the remote admin in the modem (port 8080) I don't do this for security reasons, also I am on DHCP so I never know what IP address the ISP will give me after a re connection, are you on a fixed IP?

To get remote access to the modem on the Intranet (internel network) I use

    my scripts....

ip addr add dev vlan1 brd +

    /usr/sbin/iptables -I POSTROUTING -t nat -o vlan1 -d -j MASQUERADE

I tried your script after setting my modem to and it didn't work :(

    Any ideas?

    webif access

The modem is in Bridge Mode, the router is in PPOE mode, all the ADSL set up is done in the router, the modem is just acting as a modem (it can act as a simple router with NAT and and firewall, but thats all disabled) .

Cant think of anything else, the scripts are ones I cribbed from this forum a while ago and have worked from Tomato 1.7 up to the current version I am using

Pinging from the router or a client works ok

Apart from the reboot every thing option, thats about it.

I _seriously_ think this should be made an 'option' for vanilla tomato. can someone please suggest to the developer? (im not too sure who it is)

    its very very useful.

i also have a pfsense router, and i don't need to do any special settings and i can access webif of my modems. its very useful for sometimes monitoring line quality, and other issues
