I would like to setup a Repeater Bridge using DD-WRT.

Which firmware do I need for Linksys WRT54GL v1.1?
I guess I will need the latest v24 RC:

But which one specifically? Micro or not, and which file?

    Other questions:
    - I'm planning to get the Linksys WRT54GL v1.0/v1.1 but I haven't bought it yet, is there perhaps a better model to get if I want to setup a Reapeter Bridge and for overall compatibility with firmwares?
    - do other firmware projects support a Repeater Bridge mode? I already know Tomato doesn't, what about HyperWRT?

Don't use RC6.2...all kinds of problems...

    Use RC7 9068 NEWD

Use the right NEWD for you...the GL ha a 4mb flash, so you can load anything..Micro is for the WRT54G and GS models with 2mb flash...I usually use "nokaid". Its standard, without nokaid, saves some space..

This version now has a separate MAC for virtual interfaces, AKA SSID's...

Repeater Bridge works fine with Tomato...

PS...A GL is overkill for a Repeater Bridge...but its your money...

    Thanks for the link.

I though Tomato supported WDS but not Repeater Bridge. I want the solution to be as transparent as possilbe (no subnets, same SSID, LAN ports active, WPA2 etc.).
It seems that to setup WDS I would have to reconfigure both routers.

BTW. I already have a WRT54GS v4, so I only need the other router. I think GL will be good because I may use it in a different configuration in the future.

Yes, that is true...I meant using DD-WRT in the Repeater Bridge mode, you can easily connect to devices running Tomato firmware...Repeater Bridge only needs the SSID, so you don't even need all the AP+WDS configs set.......

I finally got Tomato running on Buffalo Router and after all the time learning this stuff just realized it's only applicable for wired connections to the bridge (the Buffalo router with Tomato). I wanted to have my laptop connect wirelessly to that Buffalo router with Tomato ... and then it would bridge to the linksys AP.

    It seems this is not possible .. the wireless part to Buffalo Router acting as Bridge using Tomato firmware. Searching the web indicates that this is only possible using DD-WRT in "Repeater Bridge mode". I think I selected the wrong firmware :{

Here's the thing that seems Tomato is lacking?

Would anyone elaborate on this subject. Is it possible to have the Buffalo Router act simultaneously as bridge to the linksys main ap with internet, and as it's own AP for my laptop computer to connect to Buffalo to access internet? I guess it's possible to buy yet another (3rd) router to act as AP .. and connect that to the Buffalo Bridge. Prefer not. Prefer to have just one router (the buffalo) acting as bridge and new AP.
