Hi, is there some way to put a WRT54GL as a repeater of a WAP54G (doesn't have WDS)?.

Is it possible with other FW? now i have v23sp1

its possible with dd-wrt v24. there's an option called repeater mode. this is a normal client on the main interface + you can add other interfaces that emit the desired ssid ('s) as if the router was an ordinary AP.
be aware that this version is in late alpha state! (working fine for me though)

    I have tested

    wired -- WRT54GSv5.1(dd-wrt 23 sp2) -- WRT54GL (stock firmware)

The GS is in WDS mode, and the GL seems to connect to the GS after a while, IF it does not find a wired connection. I guess therefore that your WAP will maybe do the same?

I had read something about diffenrent SSIDs at v24 of DDWRT, but since it's still released as "very alpha"... I don't test it yet.

Now I'm testing Thibor (if I get something interesting I'll post it here), with DDWRT was impossible to me connect my WAP with the WRT using WDS

I am looking at setting up repeater mode on my V24 box I read you have it working...

Does the main Client work as a true client or does it associate as a WDS repeater??

DO I need to add the MAC of this 'repeater' to my main WDS node??

You won't beleave, but its no problem to connect with a WRT54G(S/L) via WDS on a WAP54G. Just put the MAC of the WAP (in AP-Mode) to one WDS-Slot of the WRT (LAN) and that's it :)

I've this working fine with 5 WRTs and 4 WAPs. For normal internet-use the performance is OK...
