Restrict bandwidth?

    Hello! I am using a WRT54G v3 with the tofu12 firmware.

Recently, my roommate (whom I don't get along with very well) got a new PC and she is now using every file sharing program under the sun. The problem is that her upstream bandwidth is constantly maxed out, and leaving the rest of us with a very, very slow internet connection.

Looking at the ports, it looks like she is using LimeWire, but after blocking the LimeWire ports, nothing has changes. It seems shes also using a program that shares using random ports, making it impossible to block. Is there a way to restrict her upstream? I've tried the QoS, but theres no specific options there, just priority. I've set her MAC address priority to Low and that still doesn't seem to change anything. any help would be awesome!

QoS should help, but you may have to work to get it configured correctly.

Here's a tutorial I wrote up for another forum on QoS. Hope it helps out...

And, remember, the default for UNLISTED addresses is also LOW. So what you want to do is leave your roomie at LOW and enter everyone else's MAC addresses as MEDIUM (or use Ethernet Port).
