You also have a choice between a whitelist or a blacklist. Remember tha MAC addies are easy to change so they are more "security by ignorance". Use strong WPA.

I am using WPA TKIP but i also like to add that extra layer of security

I used to do that myself, but I realized that if someone was able to get past my WPA with an extremely strong key (very long and very random), MAC address filtering wouldn't stop them at that point. MAC addresses are incredibly easy to spoof.

Quite right, but if you have a security option available to you, no matter how simple it is to bypass, you should still use it. The extra minute ortwo it takes to bypass it could be the time it takes for you to take notice that something is amiss and shut it down.

I don't use any wireless security, only my MAC filter. Is it so bad (as in able to bypass it)? I don't think the grannies from the street will ever try to connect to my network anyway.

Ya, it's pretty simple to bypass, though if your wilan isn't busy then it does make things a bit more difficult. Still, it's trivial if there is even a small amount of traffic.
