With Linksys' website having corrupted firmware on it for the last little bit is is no doubt that a bunch of you have used the corrupted firmware and bricked your device. I am pleased to report that Linksys has now fixed the firmware on their website which means that you can now download the files required to fix your RV042 if you have flash it with bad firmware. There is hope. To recover the device form Windows follow the steps below: 1) Download the tftp firmware tool from the RV042 firmware page. (The URL is too long to post - just search for RV042 and follow the links.) 2) Reboot the device into "Service Mode." To do this unplug the device and then plug it back in while holding the reset button. Continue to hold the reset button for a couple of seconds. The DIAG light will blink orange if you are in service mode. 3) Give yourself a static IP. (If you don't know what a static IP is or how to set one then maybe you should get help from a friend that does.) It needs to be 192.168.1.x where x is any number but 1. 4) Run the tftp tool. Note that the password required may not be your password for the router. It might be reset to 'admin' This should get you going again.
