Router goes to sleep!

    Serious question - do routers go totally unresponsive if not connected?
    I have a WRT54GS which I flashed successfully with DD-WRT. All was fine and it worked but when I disconnected it for a while and tried to get back in, it was as if it was dead! No response to ping or anything. Power cycle a couple of times and it's fine again and has been connected to a PC via wifi for over 24 hours. But if I disconnect and leave it for a while it again fails to respond. Could this be a bad flash in some way? How do I reflash with DD-WRT? Do I just go to the GUI and upgrade firmware and use the same bin file I used when I initially tftp'd the flash?
    This is a V5.1 BTW and I flashed a V6 and that is absolutely fine although that one never sits disconnected as I have a broadband router connected to it.

    My WRT54GS v3 with DDWRT v23SP2 also behaves like this the minute I put my Motorola surfboard SB5120 modem to standy. This makes my Yahoo Messenger and MSN Messenger cease and try to reconnect. I don't know if the Linksys stock firmware has this problem or not.

    I would not use the same file to flash with incase you have a corrupt file. download a new binary and try again.
