Hi all, as I am new here I don't know if this topic has been done and if it has I apologise for posting it.

    Ok here's the situation...

I have a Linksys BEFSR41v3 Cable/DSL Router and every so often it keeps disconnecting, I mean it works well for one day and then it litterarly disconnects every few minutes unless I disconnect the router itself, or pull the plug on the whole thing, and then it would work fine for another day then disconnect again and frankly it's beginning to irratate the hell out of me as when I leave the computer on at night to download something it stops in the middle of the download because when I get up in the morning it the network connection says it has limited or no connection and as I said before its irratating the hell out of me :(

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated  thanks.

Check that you have the latest firmware running - 1.05.00.

Disconnects often happen through interference; I have occasional ones, and the client chooses not to reconnect. So, you might want to try the usual measures to mitigate against interference.

Ensure that your XP is SP2 with all updates.

I think I have the same problem. I have a BEFSR81 V3 with the latest firmware and I have recently noticed that my router drops its WAN IP address intermittently every few days or so. When I look in the status tab the IP is If I press the DHCP renew button in the router GUI nothing happens and the IP stays at In order to get it working again I have to power cycle the router.

I'm not 100% sure but I think this started happening when I had my cable modem
replaced, so i'm thinking it's a compatibilty problem.

    Anyone have any recommendations?

This is a problem with the v3 hardware that even the latest beta firmware ( 1.06.05 ) does NOT fix.

    to Linksys

Only option you have is manually renewing your WAN IP every 12hrs or so. You can use a script or a utility on a schedule ( task ) if you are running windows.

    Router Disconnects

I have a BEFSR41 V4 and it does the same thing. A friend of mine had the same problem and went ut and bought a router with wireless and has had no problems. Don't know if firmware upgrage can cure this.
