all of a sudden today, my WRT54G router stopped communicating with my cable modem. the modem still works, i can connect through it, but when i plug into the router, i get nothing. checking status says it has no IP or connection to a modem. i have reset it and the modem and nothing happens. i am using firmware by SVEASOFT.

You need to check first to see if the hardware is ok, plug it back into the cable modem and see if the router shows the port as active. If its a known good cable then its the port that has gone bad, if the port shows good i would reflash the router.
