So i admit it, i was messing around with something that i probably should have just left alone. I have a WRT54G v 3.0 and i installed a 3rd party software on it, and now it's not working. I can not get an IP from it although it sends out a wireless signal. Is there a way that i can fix this?

Which third party firmware did you install?

A few generic things to try:

    1. From your PC, go to a command line and type "IPCONFIG /RENEW" and wait a few minutes. Then type "IPCONFIG /ALL" and see if it has issued you a new IP address. If that doesn't work...

    2. Reset the router to factory settings by pressing and holding the RESET button for at least 30 seconds. Then repeat step 1 and see if you can get in. If that doesn't work...

    3. Set an IP address for your computer manually. 192.168.1.50 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 would be a good one to use, assuming you are using a firmware version that uses 192.168.1.1 as the default IP address. Try logging into the router and making sure the DHCP Server (the function that hands out IP addresses) is set to enabled.
