Router Static IP Settings

I am using satellite internet and have Linksys Wireless-G router for multiple computers in my home. In order to successfully VPN into my employers network I have to set my router with a static IP address. The process of setting up the configuration is not a problem. The problem is that the configuration only lasts about 7 hours and then I have to reconfigure the settings. For instance, if I set up the router at 8:00 am by 3:00 pm the configuration is gone and I have to reset. This does not affect any of the other computers on the network because they do not use the Statis IP address. Does anyone have any idea why I have to do this every time I want to access my employer's VPN via the router? Maybe I am not doing the set-up correctly. Are there any suggestions?

    Thanks!!!

what do you mean the configuration has gone?

so no entry is in the static IP configuration at all when this happens?

That is correct. I have to run the setup disk everytime in order to put in the static IP settings. I have never been able to access the setting via the web.
