I have a Linksys BEFSR router.
Is there an application that will selectively block ports or MAC address over defined time windows?

This is to help control WWW access to kids PC after hours vs manually pulling the plug.

    any thoughts?

go into the Access Restrictions tab of your route and then you will see you can enable it and then yoiu could have the router kick off certiain mac adress. just you change the web interface password. i even if the router kicks the user off they can still conect to the router and login. they cannot use internet but login to the router

this usually is broken or very hard to work. i found to set a policy of your opening hours with mac Ids etc. then set new a policy, deny all 24/7 afaik this was the only way i ever got it working.

i have been able to block like that using the MAC address of the PC. but its a manual thing that I have to go into the router each time to change. I would hoping there was some application that allowed me to set a certain window of time that the router would permit WWW access.

Am I missing something. Are you saying that timer control in in the router firmware?

in dd-wrt and some other firmwares there is a back up option for you to backup all your topnios that you use and settings

rkruz Network Guru Member not following very well your points. Are suggesting use of some other firmware then is issued by Linksys? I only have the firmware that came installed with the unit. But I can try again tonight and log into the router and look more closely at my options. Ill also check to see if there are updates available from LInksys. But again Im looking for a timer I can set in the router to allow access only during the specified windows of time.

I cant get a router that has that capabiility. I can keep the BEFSR41 as the cable interface and use the other router for connections I want to control.

What router is it that has this block out in time window capability?
