RT-N12 WDS Broadcast SSID issues(?)

I have two Asus RT-N12 routers I am trying to setup with WDS.

Main router: Tomato Firmware v1.28.7494 MIPSR2-Toastman-VLAN-RT K26 VPN
    2nd router: Tomato Firmware v1.28.7494 MIPSR2-Toastman-RT K26 Std

I have followed the Tomato FAQ on this, and for the most part have it working. However, what I have found is that if I set both to broadcast their SSIDs, the link fails and all wireless dies. If I set only one (either one, doesn't matter which) to broadcast their SSID, everything appears to work.

    Setup:
    Enable Wireless: checked (both)
Wireless Mode: Access Point + WDS (both)
Wireless Network Mode: N Only (both)
    SSID: XXXXX (both)
    Broadcast: Main router only
    Channel: 4 (both)
    Channel Width: 20Mhz (both)
    Security: WPA2 Personal (both)
    Encryption: TKIP/AES (both)
Shared Key: XXXX (same for both)
    Group Key Renewal: 3600 (both)
    WDS: Link with... (both)
MAC Address: each others MACs in first entry

So...wireless works in this mode, however since the 2nd router is not broadcasting (and I haven't had time to fully test yet), my concern is that clients configured will only connect to one AP...not the other as they move around.

One other configuration I had overlooked, I had MAC address filtering enabled before I got encyrption working...but have since disabled it, and there is no change. As soon as both are broadcasting, wireless goes down and I cannot reach the 2nd router. Disable broadcasting on the main router and wireless is up and I can reach the 2nd one.

    Anyone seen this before?

After a little more tweaking have gotten it to work. I had been going back and forth between G an N (got an Asus Transformer Prime and trying to get wireless covering the house as best as possible), and hadn't really configured N how I guess it should be.

So, changed it to the following:
    Broadcast SSID: checked (both)
Channel: 11 (both - looked like least used Channel according to scans)
    Channel Width: 40Mhz (both)
    Control Sideband: Upper (both)

Effect is speed is up (@250Mbps - 300Mbps) and I can now broadcast on both routers it seems.

    Hopefully solved...
