RT-N66U - poor 5GHz

    Well not impressed by the speeds of the 5GHz I admit, After reading the reviews and the box it was made out to be cutting edge technology, I admit that I'm in a reinforced lab with concrete walls, but I would have thought that the whole new spectrum would have sorted it. it's really just the same just different channels to use above the normal ones allocated from 2.5GHz, thank god I have the repeater still in the room next door.

    5GHz doesn't penetrate anything very well. Walls, plants, furniture all reduce signal strength very quickly. The big advantages are few other routers on same frequency, no interference from microwave oven, etc. Not a defect in RT-N66U, just the way it is.

    You are the exact reason why they call the DECT phones 6.0 when they are actually 1.9.

    Bigger isn't always better.

    I'm sure that means something but to me it doesn't ha! lol...

    oh well, not to worry, I do love the router for it's speed and processing using it for a VPN so happy days.
