I don't know who is copying who, but they sure look very familiar. The user manuals show screen-shots that seem to show the same information on each screen, but customized with a different border and header. I wonder if they have refined the firmware with less bugs... Or, if that firmware could be even used in an equivalent Linksys unit.

they prbably are based on same chipsets/architechure. though the VR-50 is only Single WAN whereas the RV042 is Dual. the manual for the VR-100 shows a very similar firmware layout.

Frankly that manual for the VR-100, looks to be closer to the actual operation of the RV082 with the latest firmware than the RV082's own outdated manuals that Linksys provides! In fact I've downloaded a copy and will now refer to it instead of the Linksys' manual when I have a question.

Note that the data sheet for the VR-100 says it handles 20000 concurrent connections. I don't believe that Linksys has ever posted that stat for the RV082.

Also it is claiming only 100 mbps unidirection firewall throughput whereas Linksys now claims 200 mbps throughput with the latest firmware, 1.3.2. VPN throughput is claimed to be up to 95 mbps.
