I have a question for you RV042 experts.

Where I am from you either have DSL or a Cable modem. I supply an offsite backup server but primarily run it on my 1.5 up 7 meg down cable modem.

So what i'm wondering is if I got an rv042 could I have it terminal vpns on two different connections?

Basically have a dsl and cable connection coming into it. Have the cable modem customers use the cable modem ip for their vpns and have the dsl customers use the dsl ip for their vpns.

    Would that work?

I have not tested it, but I would assume you could do that provide you set up the client side to connect to the corresponding internet ip or DNS name.

yes... each WAN will have a separate IP, so the cable clients will have the IP of WAN1(Cable supply) and your DSL Clients will have the IP of the WAN2(DSL supply)

What are the clients using for VPN software? IPSec or PPTP or QuickVPN?

the client would be a wrv54g router, a pix firewall or a cisco 851 router. No software vpn clients, just ipsec tunnels.

So you are all saying that this would work then?

I should note that I currently have more than 30 tunnels. So maybe this just won't work for me at all?

The Rv042 handles 50 VPN Tunnels gateway to gateway and client to gateway

did you need more? then got for a RV082 (faster CPU and better port handling with VLAN/Port management

or RV016 with multiple WAN (Upto 7 WANs afaik) same speed as RV082 but more memory.
