I have successfully setup a VPN connection between the two routers, but I have some problems having computers on one side accessing computers on the other side. I'll break down what I can do and see if anyone has any ideas.

    The RV042 side
Router is set at 192.168.1.1 with the DHCP starting at x.x.x.100
I have the workgroup setup as Workgroup and use 255.255.255.0 as the subnet.
I can not see any computer on the BEFSX41 side through My Network Places
But I can enter the IP or computer name (\\x.x.x.x) and access the specified computer.
Another issue is that to access the BEFSX41 from this side I have to use remote access for the router (x.x.x.x:8080)
I can also ping computers on the other side of the VPN

    The BEFSX41 side
Router is set at 192.168.0.1 with the DHCP starting at x.x.x.100
I have the workgroup setup as Workgroup and use 255.255.255.0 as the subnet.
I can see all of the computers on both sides of the VPN
But I can not access any computers on the RV042 side, even when I use \\x.x.x.x
I can access the RV042 from this side without having to use the remote access option.
I can also ping computer on the other side of the VPN

I use radmin on both side of the VPN, and I can access computers from either side using either the IP or computer name without a problem.

I took some fiddling to get the connection up initially. And I was able to finally get the computers visible on the one end when I found the NetBios option in both routers. Not sure what else to try. Again, any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

You shouldn't be able to access the SX41's GUI through the tunnel without using remote access. That is just the way SX41s work.

Are you "married" to the 192.168.0.0 subnet on the SX41? People who have tried to use that subnet on a VPN tunnel between SX41s have reported various problems and as such I always advise avoiding that subnet for an SX41. Maybe try bumping it up to a 192.168.2.0 subnet?

Okay, I didn't know that about accessing the SX41 GUI, its not a problem since it does work now.

I will trying changing the subnet tonight on the SX41 end and see if that changes anything.

On the RV082, you can access the router administartion pages through a tunnel. I'd guess that that is possible on an RV042 too. I was surprised to discover this capability coming from SX41 tunnels which can not do this.

Also on the SX41 side, you should be using whole subnets for the two Group settings. I think there are less problems that way. Another factor is what firmware version on you using on the SX41? Some firmware versions simply don't work correctly on the VPNs and are also unstable to boot.

I am guessing that you are talking about in the VPN settings??

The firmware version currently on the SX41 is 1.52.9. The RV042 is running 1.37.10.
