    Hello,

I have two offices that I must be linked through a VPN using a gateway to gateway tunnel. Both offices are using RV042.

I would like to use the "Smart Link Backup" dual WAN system to avoid DSL breakdown... then VPN tunnel breakdown.

    Networks IP:
    Office1_LAN: 192.168.1.0
    Office1_WAN1: A.A.A.A (fixed IP)
    Office1_WAN2: B.B.B.B (fixed IP)
    Office2_LAN: 192.168.2.0
    Office1_WAN1: C.C.C.C (fixed IP)
    Office1_WAN1: D.D.D.D (fixed IP)

I tried to create 2 permanent gateway to gateway VPN tunnels between main/backup WANs
    - A.A.A.A linked to C.C.C.C
    - B.B.B.B linked to D.D.D.D
on each RV042, I can configure correctly the "main" VPN link (Tunnel #1) between 192.168.1.0 and 192.168.2.0 LANs but as soon as I try to setup the "backup" VPN tunnel (Tunnel 2) the RV042 interface is throwing me away telling me that the remote LAN group IP is already used in "Main" Tunnel (that's the case because I configured the backup tunnel identically to the main one)

The question: what's the way to configure the RV042s correctly to use gateway to gateway tunneling for my VPN that may also use the backup DSL line if the primary WAN is down ? Is there a trick or something to do with DDNS ??

    Thanks
    Matt

    Hi Matt,

I don't believe Linksys has enabled that functionality in the RV042. The RV082 on the other hand, does have that functionality-see the attached screen shot of the advanced options for a VPN tunnel configuration. Hopefully Linksys will eventually add the same feature set into the RV042.

    Hi !

    Thanks for the reply.

That's a real shame ! :( Linksys support told me it was possible with RV family, not pointing the fact that only RV082 has this feature enabled ! :(

And it's too late to return my RV042 now :(

Please Linksys techs, enable this on RV042 !!!!

    Regards
    Matt
