RV042 - How to download / edit / upload web management files?

    Hello everybody,

    I have a RV042 in my company, firmware version RV042_v1.3.12.19tm_090216_code.rmt.

    My current network uses a netmask scheme [/23].

    I've been checking the web management interface of RV042 and noticed that there are very few options to configure the netmask for LAN [from to].

    But when I've checked out the source code of network.htm file, I noticed that it is possible to edit this file and add the netmask options which cover larger ranges [such as /16 and above].

    My question is very simple. Is there a way to access, dump these files to edit them and upload them back to the router?
    My intention is just to create a workaround and customize its web interface, in order to fulfill my network - I have a total of 370 machines - and use the correct netmask.

    I know that they're stored in /mnt/cramfs/home/httpd/html and this area is read-only.

    Any help is gladly appreciated.

    Best regards,

    Hello, Toxic!
    Thanks for your reply. In fact, I've read your tutorial before. It helped me to configure my RV042 via Telnet and circumvent this limitation in its HTML code.
    But now, my problem is another. After configuring everything in this router, doing the flash_commit command and reboot, I had to change its hostname. When I changed it and saved the settings... boom! I lost the network configuration and had to do everything again. :confused:

    My question is more a bit of curiosity. When you're in RV042 menu, option Setup -> Network, you have in LAN Setting -> Subnet Mask, these are the following options in drop down box:

    When you select, drag your mouse and see the source code, here is what you have:

    <td height="20" nowrap="nowrap">
    <div align="center">
    <font face="Arial Unicode MS"><select name="netMask" size="1">
    <option value="0" selected="selected"></option>
    <option value="128"></option>
    <option value="192"></option>
    <option value="224"></option>
    <option value="240"></option>
    <option value="248"></option>
    <option value="252"></option>

    Here comes the 1 million question:
    Is there a way to download / copy / tftp the network.htm file to my PC, edit it on a simple editor [such as Notepad], sav the file and upload / tftp it back to RV042?

    I know that this may sound as a reverse engineering trial, but in fact it's not. I just wish to customize my web interface, just to modify this capability. I know that Linksys developed it for small networks, but I intend to put it on a network with less than 500 machines.

    Thanks a lot for any responses, hints or advices.

    I've been playing a bit with my RV042 v1 and I noticed it is possible to enter any LAN mask in the multiple subnet list. So, it should be possible to use a wider LAN address space with an addition of a second router.
