I have the RV042 (192.168.1.1) setup now with the speeds I was expecting.

I have this router for home use.

    1. What excessive settings do you all recommend disabling to improve performance/speed?

    2. I have a D-link DIR 655 (192.168.0.1) Wireless N Router that I was using before.

    a. Would it be better to setup the DIR 655 router as its own network? Like take ethernet cable from the LAN port on the RV042 and connect to the Internet port on the DIR 655?

    b. Or would be better to make the D-Link DIR 655 a Access Point?

I have a wireless laptop and client bridge (for Xbox using dd-wrt) that connect to the D-Link.

What would be more efficient and effective.

    Thanks!

Update: I just realized if I connect the DIR-655 as just a router on the RV042 without making it a access point, and then go back and access my desktop which is hard wired to the RV042 -- then my internet lags on the desktop when the DIR-655 is on and being utilized by my wireless clients.

I guess - it's probably better to just make it a access point then.

Unless, it should function the other way well too.

    Which is the recommended way?

Well on the desktop I noticed it cause problem with my usenet downloads when I the D-Link router was running.
