    Hi all
I want to create a VPN using a RV042. I have a Sagem dsl modem (1540WG model) and a static IP. The connection works fine since i am able to connect using Windows vpn client. Does anyone know a good step by step guide or give some informations? The RV042 has the latest firmware and i'm using the lates QuickVPN client. I did everything that was supposed to be done and still no success.
    Please help.
    Thank you

You say the latest QVPN. which one? 1.2.8 (for Vista) or v1.1.0 for WinXP? what exact problem does the client report? have you enabled HTTPS on the firewall of the RV042?

The Quick VPN client is version 1.1.0 for win XP. HTTPS is enabled. I restored the dfaults settings and the tried to configure it again but no luck so far. Any suggestions?
The client says that cannot establish a connection and the reports 4 possible reasons.
    Thx

this usually mens something wrong with the connection details. IP could be wrong, user or password. does your xp machine at the remote end have any router/firewall enabled?

does your adsl modem at router end, have any firewall enabled blocking IPSec/https?

are you able to remote onto the RV042's webgui using the remote management port and https?

Wow that was a quick reply. Thanks a lot.
The configuration of the network is as follows.
ADSL modem-router Sagem 1540WG with DHCP and firewall on. The ip is 192.168.0.1
VPN router Linksys RV042 with DHCP and firewall on. The ip is 192.168.1.1
There is a external static ip.
I'm trying to connect 6 remote pc's to the local network so they can use a program.
Right now i have the RV042 connected to the Sagem through the internet port. When i'm trying to ping the sagem from the RV042 i can't!
For me it seems that there is a connection problem between the two devices. Maybe something wrong with the RV042 configuration?
    thx again

if you have a firewall on the ADSL modem, then this will be blocking incoming requests from the QVPN clients on the internet, destined for the RV042. you will need (if possible) to port forward ports 443, 500 and (possibly 60443) from the adsl modem to your RV042.

do you have the ADSL modem set in Bridge mode?

I already forwarded the ports 500 and 60443 to the RV042. I can't forward port 443 because it's used from the Windows vpn connections and right now i have people connected. I'll try it later though. The modem is in PPPoE mode. Do i have to change it to bridged?
    thx

Playing around with the router i did something strange. I can "connect" to vpn for the first time. But this is not a proper connection. Actually i'm connected to the vpn router (wired connection) and the adsl modem(wifi connection) and the the client connects to the vpn but drops the internet connection. If i unplug the cable from the rv42 the vpn drops and internet comes back. Also when i was setting up the router (100th time or so) when i was at the "VPN client access" creation tab and added the first user the router asked to change its ip to something like 10.x.x.x Now this something that i didn't see it in any manual (maybe i was not reading it carefully). Is this normal? If not what's happening? Any ideas?
    Thank you
