The currently available v4.1.1.01-sp seems to be working relatively well with just the basic functions used. - the router hardware is stable, no visible hangs and such - VPN G2G tunnels are working quite well in general But, there are numerous problems with more advanced functions: - WEB interface does not seem to work correctly on some browsers - problems with DHCP on WAN ports with ISP using DHCP authorisation - network service detection does not work as it should to - backup VPN tunnel function does not seem to be working correctly - low MTU setting can bring down WAN ports - system log does contain less informations, than in RV042 v1 - G2G VPN traffic seems to be affected by WAN MTU setting and protocol binding functions, somehow. To put it shortly, device seems to be in too early development stage, to be released on the market. The worst of all is the fact the support always demands Wireshark logs as an evidence to the detected problems. They say they can not do much without it. So it seems the RV042 is not usable to small business clients. It is not possible to receive support targeted for a small business computer technicians. In order to fill the demands of the support channel, quite a high networking skill is necesary. As for me, I'm going back to the old RV042 v1 devices. The Liksys did well using a proven and time tested OpenRG enviroment creating a workhorse. On the other hand, Cisco just took over the good name of the RV0xx and is trying to do a new version from a scratch. I'm not willing to babysit another WRV200 like meneace. It is much safer to use time tested hardware platforms with systems aged in many years.
