I have a RV042. My primary connection is a cable(Shaw cable). My alternate connection is a dsl provider. Right now, my wan1(cable) is only giving me 160 kb/s if the router is used. if i switch to my dsl connection, the speed is what i expect to me. can anybody give me an idea what this is so? it isn't my cable connection as if i directly hook up the computer, it works fine. what gives?

Try setting the MTU manually to 1500, go to Firewall, choose MTU Manual 1500 bytes and save settings.

If you aren't using one of the latest beta firmwares or official releases that came out this year, upgrade your firmware. Some of the older firmwares disabled the Selective ACKs of TCP/IP. Cable needs SACKs enabled to have proper speeds. The SACK blockage didn't affect DSL users as much.
