Hey there, I am experiencing an unusual problem with a Linksys RV082 router and a 2Wire 2701 series DSL modem. I have the 2Wire DSL modem configured as a bridge - all routing functions are disabled - and connected the RV082 (DHCP disabled.) The problem I am having is that when the DSL modem loses power, the RV082 is not able to connect to the WAN IP (public) address. You can reboot the modem and router in any sequence all day long and the router will never connect to the DSL modem. However, if I connect a laptop to the modem, wait a minute or so, then reconnect the ethernet cable back to the RV082 it is able to connect the WAN IP. It's as if connecting the laptop to the DSL modem triggers something on the modem that then enables the Linksys router to connect. I have been able to recreate this numerous times. Any ideas what the problem is here? Is it a setting on the Linksys or on the DSL modem? Thanks for any suggestions!
