    RV082 Firmware v1.3.7 Release Note

    9/15/2007 (beta testing)

    1. Fixed an IPSec NAT-T issue that the main mode initiator does not change UDP port to 4500 in the 5th packet as required by RFC 3947.
    2. Fixed an issue with QuickVPN Client showing incorrect tunnel status. RV082 will present its LAN IP to QuickVPN Client so the Client can use it to detect whether the tunnel is truly established by ICMP ping.
    3. Fixed a problem that users in the LAN cannot access a non-standard FTP service, e.g. http://220.246.5.41/test.asp.
    4. Fixed a problem that occasionally users in the LAN cannot completely download a large file from the internet using PPPoE DSL.

Please contact Linksys Technical Support for this version of firmware.

I'm running the beta on my home RV082 that has a WiFI routed WAN connection via a pair of Tomato'd WRT54G units. I rely on good routing and RIP since I set everything but the last device in router mode to avoid multiple NATs. So far so good and the VPNs are still working fine.

One thing that is still missing in the RVs which I really want is the ability to run star/hub VPNs. The interface still complains about a "conflict" when trying to setup these tunnels even though the config is proper per IPSEC spec. Other than that the new version seems o.k. so far.

could you give us an example of how to replicate this issue in full?

just got a reply for you m8

We recommend the customer configuring a single tunnel with Local Security Group, such as 192.168.0.0/255.255.252.0, to cover both 192.168.1.0/24 and 192.168.2.0/24 networks

The customer also needs to change the LAN IP of RVb to something like 192.168.4.0/24, so that the two subnets on both sides of the tunnel do not overlap.

    hope that helps.....

That would work in certain situations. Those aren't my actual subnets and I can't change them all to fit and not bump into the half dozen other networks and VPNs. The better solution is to change the conflict checking code in the firmware so that it only complains (or not at all) if *both* sides of two VPNs conflict, not just one. That would make a lot more sense to me and be true to the IPSEC standard. Trying to do a star hub arrangement won't work either even with careful subnetting. On any VPN device that doesn't do these checks I could make the VPNs and they would work just fine.

    Thanks for asking for me.

I think there is a problem of the download link.. It will give this message below even if I am successfully authenticated.

Jamesss, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

I contacted Linksys today and after speaking with 3 people, they stated that this firmware does not exist. Does anyone have another suggestion as to where we might locate this version?

i'm assuming they asked simon to remove the link. you'll have to ask him about it.

Pick one of the fixed issue in the release note and tell tech support that you have that issue. They will provide the firmware to you to close your problem ticket. But it takes some time to convince them you do have that issue in your system. Good luck.

Thanks for the response. If I can build up some patience I may contact them again. I’m just not sure I have two hours worth.
