I would like to try the 1.1.14 firmware but I am using the RVS4000 now so I cannot do FTP. I cannot FTP the new beta 1.1.14 from the Linksys website. Does anybody know how to make the RVS4000 do FTP correctly?

    FTP-OK for me

I have 8 of these routers and for me FTP works fine. I do not know why people are having trouble. The only thing I did was turn of the IPS function.

    eelco2k,

Your comment is the first real help that I have heard in about 6 months of trying to get this fixed. Thanks. I do use MAC cloning and I run in gateway mode, not router mode. Everyone else's comments are more like swinokur's comments, which really don't help me make my router work. From your comments, I am guessing that the gateway mode and/or MAC cloning is causing must be the issue. I will try to get the ISP to reset the MAC and then turn off MAC cloning and see what happens. Thanks for responding.

When I turn off the IPS function, then nothing works, no HTTP packets are passed. So this appears not to be a non-starter for a solution. It is interesting, though that PING packets pass when IPS is off, just not HTTP. Oh, and FTP still fails with IPS off.

Bottom line: FTP still does not work in my configuration and I have not been able to find a configuration where it does work.

Here are the a few of the billion entries from my log file when I try to do FTP. Let me know if this means anything. It does not mean anything to me.

    donathome,
I also had the same issue, I ended up frying the router with a downgrade of the firmware trying to fix the annoying ftp issue. I was given a replacement router from linksys, it has f\w 1.1.09 on it .. the FTP issue is not occuring any more. Don't know if that helps.

    FTP still broken

I first had the problem with the 1.1.09 fw, so I do not think that downgrading would help me. I just switch over to my 10 year old DLink when I have to FTP something. When I do the switch, it shuts down the office, but it is not so often that I can't get away with it. You can be sure that I will not be looking at Linksys or even Cisco when it is time to upgrade!
