    Hello,
    I have a WRT54G v2.2.

I have been using Satori for some time (6-8 months).
    I have a firmware version:
    Firmware Version: Satori-4.0 v2.07.1.7sv

I am noticing now that a new version (Alchemy) is out.

    1) Could you tell if an upgrade is possible from Satori 4.0 to Alchemy 1.0
    2) what are the main new/changed features?

Well, not exactly new. It has been released a few months ago. :)

Sure. Alchemy is bigger than Satori, so you'll have to do the update over the webinterface and can't use tftp.
Just be sure to do a looooong reset before and after updating to reset everytheing back to the default values.

It's not a feature comparison Satori vs. Alchemy. But here you can see all Alchemy features compared to the standard Linksys firmware:

As you probably already know the features of Satori, you can compare then to the list linked above.

Some of the new features I can remember compared to Satori are:
    - much better QOS
    - different client mode (bridged vs. routed)
    - updated busybox version with many new tools like awk
    - improved WDS

You may also want to have a look at DD-WRT. It's based on Alchemy, but has even more features like a r/w flash partition.

I've bricked my WRT54G v1.0 five times trying to upgrade from Satori to Alchemy until learned about the VERY LONG reset requirement before and after upgrade. I must have held the reset button for more than 30 seconds for each reset.

I upgraded 3 of my WRT54G's (1 GS, 1 1.1 and 1 another version) to alchemy all from satori 4 and the upgrade was flawless. I did make sure to do a flash at the end just to be safe. (I didnt know it HAD to be done)... though, good practice.
