I have a Netgear DG834G (with DGTeam 0849 firmware) and wish to use it in "Modem" only mode to use with a Linksys WRT54GL with Tomato 1.27, I have tried the following scripts:

Modem as 192.168.0.1, router set to 192.168.1.254 with the following script in Admin>scripts>firewall:

ip addr add 192.168.0.1/24 dev vlan1 brd +
    iptables -I POSTROUTING -t nat -o vlan1 -d 192.168.0.0/24 -j MASQUERADE

Modem as 192.168.1.254, router set to 192.168.0.1 with the following script in Admin>scripts>firewall:

ip addr add 192.168.1.1/24 dev vlan1 brd +
    iptables -I POSTROUTING -t nat -o vlan1 -d 192.168.1.0/24 -j MASQUERADE

But for some reason the router will not connect to the modem to let me put in my login details...

Any suggestions as too why I am having this problem and what I need to do to get my DG834G to work in Modem only mode with the WRT54GL?

    Thanks.

You keep giving you router the same secondary IP as the modem

The bold numbers must be different, but in same /24 Network

My apologies, but this is all kind of new to me...

If I want to give my modem an IP of 192.168.0.1 and the Linksys WRT54GL an IP of 192.168.1.1, what numbers would I replace the bold ones with so that I could use to use the DG834G in Modem only mode?

I also tried This script, but with no joy...

    Thanks.

The problem is the ip in the first line is the ip you're assigning to the wan port, it can't be the same as the modem :) Try this:

Modem as 192.168.1.254, router as 192.168.0.1

ip addr add 192.168.1.1/24 dev vlan1 brd +
    iptables -I POSTROUTING -t nat -o vlan1 -d 192.168.1.0/24 -j MASQUERADE

    Modem as 192.168.0.1, rotuer 192.168.1.254

ip addr add 192.168.0.2/24 dev vlan1 brd +
    iptables -I POSTROUTING -t nat -o vlan1 -d 192.168.0.0/24 -j MASQUERADE
