Does anybody have the original firmware for a WRT54G V1.0 that they could possibly post? I have been trying to restore my router using the Hairydairymaid instructions and JTAG cable. I can communicate with the Broadcom CPU and it detects the AMD flashram. The Diag LED stays lit and it appears as though the boot portion of the firmware is corrupt.

    Thanks,

just download the latest 54G firmware, that will work for you.

I tried that and it failed. According to Hairydairymaid I changed the name to wholeflash.bin so that his windows loader would accept the file. Most posts I've seen suggested loading an original copy. I had Satori 4.0 Succesfully loaded but wanted to install the DD_WRT version and that is when things went bad. Maybe I am not using the loader software with the JTAG correctly. I'll keep trying different command line options. Thank you for your quick response nevertheless.

if you have a good cfe, and when you plug it in the diag led blinks slowly, that means that the router is awaiting a tftp transfer. changing the name of the firmware to wholeflash.bin will not work as the cfe and nvram sections are missing.

It is probably these areas that are corrupt or missing, the diag LED remains constantly lit. I guess that means I need to replace these. Any further suggestions on where to get a CFE.bin or NVRAM.bin?

It is almost worth buying a replacement than it is spending valuable time reviving a bricked router. I was more curious than in need of saving money.

nvram isn't necessary, but the cfe is the bootloader and is ESSENTIAL. check hairydairymaid's site, iirc he used to have a link to a cfe generator that made the correct version cfe with the necessary unique mac address for your wrt.

Thibor, Thank you again for your help. I used the Hairydairymaid guide and the CFE generator, created a new CFE and then FTP'd a new firmware. Got it working.
