Serial modem to WRT54GL - Been done?

Since I've been running Asterisk on my WRT54GL, I've found some uses for a phone modem on my router.

It wouldn't be to dial-up to an ISP or fax, it would be to make phone calls to people (VoIP to Phone).

I got this conexant modem from an old laptop. On it, you can see on the left side there is a connector, 12 pins (6x2). The black/red wires are for the phone line.

Im wondering if this is a type of serial connection I could use. From some specs sheet I read, the modem already works on 3.3v so I wouldnt need to even convert the power.

However, the serial port mod for the WRT54GL is a 10-pin connector, so I'm a little confused. Maybe someone is familiar with the modem connector (common for most modern laptops)

Also, I cant find a package for generic modem drivers for OpenWRT.

I wonder if anyone can steer my in the right direction.
