SES light after dd-wrt install

I decided to try using dd-wrt v23 std and from the looks of things there's lots of new features to explore. However I am bit concerned. I am guessing that SES doesn't work with dd-wrt. I can live with that but it seems like there's a bug here because the light is now randomly lighting and turning off, at varying degrees of brightness. It may take hours for things to change but every time I look over at the router it's different than it was before.

Is there any way to at least keep it in one state? This is rather annoying and makes me worry about what dd-wrt is doing to the router to make it do that. If there isn't a way of fixing this I'm just going to go back to the standard firmware.

mine does that too...but only when booting up. it would nice if an option was added in dd-wrt to disable the SES button... which comes in handy because one time a family member hit the button with a book on the desk or something and it reset/changed all the wireless security options, and i had no way to restore... which meant me going to all the computers here in the house and re-configuring!!! grrr. ;)

I don't have SES, but I do have a lighted Cisco logo on my WRT54GS v2. It stays on solid all the time with DD-WRT which I think is cool :thumb:

Thanks to everyone that replied. The light seems to have settled on the orange color for the last day and a half. I would have preferred it to be white (like it was with SES enabled) but at least it's stable now. I guess I'll keep exploring DD-WRT.

I agree that it would be cool if DD-WRT was able to change or at least disable the light.

Clicking that light/button cycles through the colors, so you should be able to easily make it white.

Thanks for the suggestion but I already knew that. I guess I didn't spell it out very clearly in my original post. However, that's where the problem lies. If I change the light to white it eventually starts changing to an orange-white or turns off. In other words, you can't change it permanently.

It seems to have settled on orange for the past few days and I'm fine with this. I wish I knew what makes it change color by itself and that I could put a stop to it.
