I cannot get my wps54gu2 to recognize my printer hp 5550. The green usb light is on. I have the print server connected to a wrt54gs router. I have double checked the cables and all and every thing seems to be ok. Please help. I have the router set for wpa-psk

    Thank you

I checked the h{ website. It indicates that the HP Officejet 5500, if the it is the model you have is a All-In-One printer. Most consumer printserver, the WPS54GU2 included, do not support All-In-One printers.

I told ya'll wrong, its not the print server not recognizing the printer, ITS THE SET UP NOT RECOGNIZING THE PRINT SERVER. I have a Linksys WPS54GU2 along with a Linksys WRT54GS. I have the print server connected to the printer with usb cord. The status, lan and usb lites are all green. I have double checked all the cords. I have a HP 5550, its a printer, not a all in one. Has any one had a problem like this, but it started working when you went to a paralled cord. I don't have a parallel cord yet.

    Thank you for any help

I am in the same boat as you pbearseven. I cannot autodetect the print server from the setup, no matter if I use a multifunction printer or not. My linksys router does not even see the print server even if I connect with cable. If it does not support multifunctions anyway, then what is the point? Too bad I am out of my return window.

I had the same trouble with my WPS54G. The setup program would not detect the print server. A work around is to find out what IP address it is using (from DHCP) and then login with that address (password: admin) and configure the print server manually.
