Setting up my WRT54GL

Hello, this is my first post here, I'm really happy I was able to find this website!

I just bought the WRT54GL version 1.1 router and I'd like to set it up to get the most out of it. I was reading a review about a guy changing his NAT table to better support Bit torrent and other P2P programs. This is what he said:

"The first thing I changed was the NAT table settings, increasing the table size from the default 512 to 4096, and dropping the NAT timeout from 3600 seconds to 90. In English this basically tells the router “store heaps of connection details, but discard them pretty sharpish if you don’t need them anymoreâ€, which is exactly the behaviour we want with Bittorrent and other P2P apps."

Would you recommend making the changes he outlined? If so how do I make those changes? I can't find them anywhere in the router.

Also, another problem I have come across is that if I have a friend over and we try to connect to the same server to play a game (doesn't matter which game) only one of us is able to connect and the other can't. To fix this I have to reset the router to manufacture's settings and it'll usually work for us until the next day. Is there some settings I need to change to get around this?

If you have any other advice as to what I should change for this router, or even flash a different firmware on it, please let me know. Thanks!

I'd try the speedmod but adjust it to allow more bandwidth to be pritoritzed for p2p traffic if your actually wanting to do that./

I'm actually looking to do the same myself... Still learning tho!
