I bought a Buffalo whrg54s and started flashing with ddwrt firmware. I had been using differrent 3rd party firmware and had good experience with linksys, asus routers. First buffalo i got was that the router keeps on hanging getting the red light and disconnecting wireless. check all possible to fix the problem including leaving the transmit frequency alone and check to make sure i am the right channel frequency. tried all possible firmware from DDwrt sp1 up to the latest V24 Firmware including doing the hard reset before and after each flashing. so i change the router with a second same buffalo and have the same problem. i tried to flash the firmware with tomato firware from the old firmware to the latest and still same problem on wireless disconnect. i have Linkys wrt54g to gl and never have this type of problem. Oh i reverted back to flashed the first buffalo to german firmware to english and its still german language. One technical guy from the store scratch his head upon finding that it was german which gave me an excuse to replaced it since we both dont speak and understand german!

    1. reset router to factory defaults (30s reset push) after restart (wait couple minutes)
    2. use tftp to upgrade router to personal choice of firmware (wait a cool 5 minutes to be safe)
    3. again reset router to factory defaults (same as step 1)

    hope that helps.

If thats the first 3rd party firmware you are putting on it, you need to tftp the ddwrt-micro version. Once a 3rd party firmware is on the device you can then flash it however or with whatever you like.
