Should I Upgrade my WRT54G 2.02.2 Firmware to 4.20.7 ??

    I have a WRT54G v1.0 (Series #CDF1) It is running Linksys firmware 2.02.2.

I have not had any problems with the router broadcasting G only to my home network using TKIP security to two wireless Dell laptops and a wireless Dell desktop.

I just bought a WET54G v2 bridge running 2.10 firmware to hook up to my new ReplayTV DVR. For the life of me, I cannot get that bridge to communicate with the rest of the network using TKIP. The bridge works great when I disable wireless security or setup of WEP128 wirless security. But, not with TKIP.

I noticed in the description of the WRT54G upgrade that firmware 4.00.7 had a TKIP fix. What was the nature of that TKIP fix???

Will upgrading my WRT54G router to the lastest Linksys firmware fix my TKIP problem???

Or, will upgrading the WRT54G to the latest Linksys firmware cause a whole bunch of new issues???

Thanks in advance for any assistance,

Linksys Firmware 2.02.2? You're keeping your router in the dark ages. I didn't even know that they had TKIP way back then LOL, just kidding. I believe 4.20.8 is now available and while I can't say off the top of my head what changes have been made, I am sure there have been many which include security fixes. If I were you, I'd upgrade your firmware and give it a try. You can always revert back to whatever firmware you like if it doesn't help. Good Luck!

yes that's right but it would be much better if upgrade it into several versions before you upgrade it to the lates one..coz it might damage the router...you can download it at ftp.linksys.com/pub/network..hope this helps

be carefull because if you do upgrade to 4xx.xx firmware you might not be able to downgrade to older firmware.
